‘선거 방역’ 성공…총선 치른지 2주, 선거감염 ‘0명’
South Korea continues to make great strides in battling COVID-19.
The number of confirmed cases steadily falling… and there are no new infections related to the general election held two weeks ago.
Jang Tae-hyun fills us in.
South Korea has reported zero additional domestic cases of COVID-19 as of Thursday,… the lowest number of daily infections in 72 days.
The Korea Centers for Disease Control and Prevention announced that there have been just four more imported cases from overseas…detected at airport checkpoints.
This brings the accumulated number of infections to 10-thousand 7-hundred and 65.
There was one additional fatality, raising the death toll to 2-hundred-47.
In addition, health authorities said Thursday that no infections have emerged as a result of the parliamentary election two weeks ago.
27 million Koreans took part in early voting sessions, and the official election day on April 15th.
Since April 19th,… the country has seen a downward trend in the number of new infections,… reporting less than 20 per day.
KCDC official Kwon Jun-wook attributed the country’s progress in flattening the curve to the public’s cooperation…with measures like social distancing and abiding by health guidelines.
However, he warned that the public should stay on their guard over the long weekend.
Kwon advised the continued use of face masks,… the practice of good hygiene especially in public places, and prompt self-quarantining should coronavirus symptoms surface.
As of Thursday, over 9-thousand patients in the country have recovered from COVID-19,… bringing the recovery rate to 84-percent.
